For the second year in a row, Harris & Harris will be attending the “Hiring our Heroes” job fair in
late March. The “Hiring our Heroes” job fair is a nationwide initiative to help veterans and military
spouses find meaningful employment.
The program, which was launched by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in March of 2011, works with
over 1600 state and local chambers, as well as other strategic partners from the public, private and
non-profit sectors. The program’s goal is to “create a movement across America in hundreds of local
communities where veterans and military families return every day.” In 2011, more than 7,300
individuals received jobs after the 90 hiring fairs took place. In the 44 states in which the fairs were
hosted, 88,000 veterans and military spouses connected with 4,500 different employers. This year,
in 2012, the efforts of the initiative will significantly increase. Hiring fairs will take place in 400
communities and the goal is to find jobs for thousands of veterans and their spouses.
Harris & Harris greatly appreciates those individuals and their families that enlist in order to
protect our country. As a company, one of our goals is to support soldiers while they are overseas
and upon their return. In 2011, Harris & Harris donated packages to soldiers overseas through the
Any Solider program. This year, Harris & Harris is not only continuing donations to Any Soldier
but is also participating in the Hiring our Heroes job fair in order to support their homecoming.
