NARCAN: Saves Lives!

Harris & Harris is proud to support The DuPage Narcan Program. We are happy to announce a donation of $5,000 which will provide life-saving treatment kits for police agencies. The DuPage Narcan Program is still in its early stages of development. It launched just over 2 years ago, and has already made a tremendous impact throughout Chicagoland. The program has one mission: to save lives. “A drug that is highly successful in reversing heroin overdoses is being carried by some police agencies as a way to give quicker treatment before paramedics arrive,” USA Today announced. With opiate usage and overdoses continuing to climb, Harris & Harris felt the need to support the program.

The DuPage County Board of Health has provided almost 100% of the funding for this new initiative. To date, 84 lives have been saved through the program. Narcan can successfully reverse an unintentional fatal drug overdose.

The program expands throughout DuPage County, with program sites at nearly every Police Department. Police oficers, EMS, and hospital professionals are all being properly trained through the program. This program is being administerd at the following hospitals in the area; Central DuPage Hospital (Northwestern Medicine), Good Samaritan Hospital (Advocate Healthcare), Elmhurst Hospital (Edward-Elmhurst Health), and GlenOaks Hospital (Adventist Midwest Health).

Harris & Harris is honored to be a supporter of the DuPage Narcan Program, and looks forward to watching the program expand. We wish the County and its participating hospitals much success in saving lives.
