Harris & Harris opened our Detroit office in 2011. Since then, we have formed a wonderful relationship with the Detroit and Michigan communities. One of the organizations we have partnered with is The Heat and Warmth Fund. The Heat And Warmth Fund, THAW, is a leading provider of utility assistance for Michigan residents in need. They collaborate with various partners to deliver services that support long term energy solutions. Since its inception in 1985, THAW has distributed over $172 million in assistance to more than 232,000 Michigan households. Recipients of THAW assistance include the elderly, unemployed, underemployed and disabled individuals who found themselves in an energy crisis. More than 70% of the households we assist have a child or senior in the home. THAW programs are open to eligible Michigan residents.
Every year, THAW, in partnership with DTE Energy, host the Week of Warmth. The Week of Warmth consists of a week-long campaign with various events and fundraisers. Harris & Harris has been lucky to partner with THAW and Week of Warmth for many years. Serving the Detroit and Michigan community is something we take deep pride in, knowing the great work these organizations do. Harris & Harris attended and sponsored the Night of Warm Hearts reception, one of the closing events of the week.
